Ignorance or desire to save money are main cause to the spreading of genetic diseases due to untested genetically breeding animals . Also,  in the populationan of english bulldog , there are many sick animals or animals called " carriers " . In general, breeders take pride in exterior, character, or colour,  not thinking about genetics  Fortunately, awareness in Poland goes forward , and the growing requirements of the new owners also foster the development of culture in this area. In this unique breed known and confirmed are definitely two diseases that can be transmitted to offspring geneticly and which can already be detected in the parents so that they will not bear another sick individuals .

HUU often described as a hiperuricosuria  is a disease inherited as an autosomal recessive trait . What does it mean for breeders or owners? It means that the carrier are both male and female, and that it is possible to rise the three genotypic variants of the combination of two individuals in the course of culture :

1 Genotype N / N ( homozygous healthy ) animal is not a carrier of the mutation and will not develop in the hyperuricosuria . Since the dog does not pass mutations to offspring , may be associated with any of the individual .
2 Genotype N / HU ( heterozygous ) the individual is a carrier of the mutation , but the risk of suffering from disease is negligible. However, it may also transfer this mutation in 50% of the offspring. Therefore, it should only be associated with clear individuals .
3 Genotype HU / HU ( homozygous affected ) individual carries two copies of the mutated gene . The sick dog passes 100% mutation in the offspring .

Onset of the disease in all ages, and sometimes even in favorable conditions does not show up at all. The main symptoms are:

* pollakisuria
* Difficulty in urination and pain on urination
* Blood in the urine
* Recurrent inflammation of the bladder and urethra
* Sometimes obstruction of the urethra especially in males (which is caused by the presence of the bones of the penis )
* Less disease affects the kidneys and the formation of kidney stones , which both diagnosis and treatment jast how much more difficult

First, in such cases, you should go to the veterinarian and undergo a complete diagnostic ( examination of urine and ultrasound earlier) , and in the future be buying dogs from breeders who have dogs tested in this area!

CMR 1  often described as dog's multifocal retinopathy is also disease inherited as an autosomal recessive trait similar to HUU . The disease affects the retina of the eye and the onset of symptoms is much more difficult to observe because it is recognized only when the animal loses sight . The first signs of the disease can occur in animals as in 3-4 months of age :

  • on the retina in ophthalmoscopy occur simultaneously in many places round or oval highlight the retina , which include pink and brown serous fluid (they look like blisters )
  • over the years, appear in cells of focal retinal degeneration
  • sometimes it only appears uneven structure of the retina
  • with the passage of time there are deposits of pigment in the retina

Due to the fact that animals cope greate with blindness owner often does not recognize the symptoms, and then argues that came oldness and the dog just lost his sight because of it.

Fortunately, this condition can be diagnosed and eliminate carriers of culture . I would recommend the full diagnostic for new owners and my colleagues - breeders :-) .
